PRACTICE OPERATIONS
The business of the firm, run from the same file as the case.
Firms run two systems today: one that knows the case, and one that bills for it. Practice Operations collapses them into one. Intake, time, billing, trust accounting, and reporting live where the work happens, not in a second application someone has to keep in sync by hand.
Intake that opens a case, not a folder
A new matter runs a conflicts check against every party and every matter already in the firm's record, not just the ones a paralegal remembered to search. The engagement letter goes out, and the matter opens with its deadlines already computed by the Docket engine, not calculated later once someone gets around to it.
Billing from work that actually happened
Time is captured from the work performed in the file: the draft written, the deposition prepped, the motion filed. Invoices build from that record instead of a reconstructed memory at month end. Trust-aware ledgers keep every entry tied to its source, and nothing leaves the firm without a lawyer approving it first.
The firm, visible
Matter status, workload across the team, and the reports a managing partner needs are drawn from the live case file, not assembled during a Friday afternoon of data entry that starts over the following Friday.
Practice Operations reads the same sealed matter file the Proof Engine reads. The invoice, the trust entry, and the exhibit all trace back to one record, not three.
What it doesn't do
Practice Operations does not decide which matters are worth taking. It does not send an invoice without a person approving it first. It does not practice law.
